Safety Professional for a meat packaging facility located about 30 minutes south of Fayetteville, NC
The Safety Professional will perform safety related functions that are determined by population, potential risks and work tasks. It is the job of the safety professional to protect all plant employees, visitors and contractors from actual hazards or significant risks and establish compliance with both federal and state OSHA standards as a minimum requirement.
Requirements:
- College degree or CSP designation with a minimum of five (5) years experience in meat industry or industrial related facility in the area of Safety
- Must be able to walk the entire plant for long periods of time and work in temperatures from 0 to 98 degrees for duration of project
- Must be able to work in adverse conditions
- Must be able to respond to plant in off hours due to emergency that may arise
- Must be able to work various shifts (primarily 2nd shift) and some weekends when required
Duties include:
- Handling the accident and illness programs
- Submitting regular reports on the status of safety to top management
- Acting as an advisor when needed
- Maintaining the accident record system, investigating accident and checking on corrective measures.
- Monthly supervisor safety training classes
- Supervising departmental monthly safety training that is given by department supervisors to his/her employees
- Conducting weekly safety inspection with report going to management for correction
- Making daily plant inspection to discover unsafe work practices before they cause accidents
- Making certain that all laws on industrial safety and health are complied with
- Setting standards for personal protective equipment
- Approving designs for new and modified equipment
- Inspections of new or modified equipment before use for safety
- Machine guarding program
- Recommending provisions for safety in plans and specifications for new buildings or remodeling of old ones
- MSDS sheets / Hazard Communications
- Initiating activities that stimulate and maintain employees interest in safety
- Joint Safety Committee meetings
- Fire Prevention
- Process Safety Management
- Work Comp program
- Work as an advisor to the employee health department
- Ergonomic Program

Job Description
Environmental Holdings Group, LLC (EHG), a demolition and environmental remediation firm servicing the Carolinas and the Southeast U.S., seeks a Corporate Safety Manager to develop, administer, coordinate, and supervise corporate safety and health programs for our firm. The primary duties of this position involves the direction of our efforts pertaining to worker safety, health and environmental matters through administrative (i.e. program administration, chairing our safety committee) and technical direction (i.e. jobsite inspections, focused safety and health training). Other duties include (but are not limited to) direction of our field safety coordinators, performance of safety audits, recordkeeping, and overall support of our corporate and operational safety needs. The position will require periodic travel (estimated at 25% - 30%) to service our divisional offices in Raleigh NC, Charlotte NC, and Atlanta GA; however, the position will be based in our Raleigh or Charlotte office.
Desired Skills & Experience
- A four-year degree in occupational health/safety or equivalent field of study;
- A minimum of five years' of experience in construction safety and health administration/coordination;
- Thorough knowledge of construction/industrial safety requirements; and
- Proficient comunication, interpersonal, organizational, and computing skills.
Professional registrations and the ability to speak Spanish fluently, while not required, are considered beneficial. Experience in training administration is also a plus.
